Explorer Friend, gigantic flying creature seen

As more scientists come around to the creation side, more and more facts are coming out that destroy the myth of Evolution. Did you know man and Dinosaur walked the earth at the same time? What was the canopy made out of that protected the earth before the deluge??

Hello Explorer Friend,

“I’m on my way to Papua New Guinea,” said Carl. “A school teacher
up in the highlands believes he’s seen a flying dragon.”

“You mean, a living, flying pterodactyl?” I asked.

“Yes. But it’s not just him. Quite a number of others also say
they’ve seen it.”

This wasn’t the first report, either.

For centuries, North American Indians handed down the story of a
gigantic flying monster with an appetite for human flesh.

According to reports, it would swoop down, seize a man, woman or
child, then fly off with its prey to an inaccessible cave high up
in a cliff, on the north bank of the Mississippi River.

"That is the lair of the Piasa," they said.

Was this just some wild tale perpetuated by superstitious people?

Sometime in the 1840s, Professor John Russell of Jersey County,
Illinois, set out with a guide to explore the area. they
ultimately scaled the cliff and found that, indeed there was a
huge cave up there. They entered it.

Russell wrote in his report: "The roof of the cavern was vaulted.
The top was about 20 feet high.

"The shape of the cave was irregular, but so far as I could judge,
the bottom would average 20 to 30 feet.

"The floor of the cave throughout its whole extent was one mass
of human bones. Skulls and other bones were mingled together in
the utmost confusion. To what depth they extended I am unable to
decide, but we dug to the depth of 3 or 4 feet in every quarter
of the cavern and still found only bones.

"The remains of thousands of humans must have been deposited

The question immediately comes to mind: Is it possible that the
Piasa of Native American legend was actually a surviving

Sioux Indians report having found what they called a "thunderbird"
that had been hit by lightning. Its wing span was about 20 feet.

So the question arises, Do Pterodactyls Still Live Today?

Pterodactyls were the largest flying creatures ever. With wingspans
reaching nearly 40 feet, pterosaurs "ruled the prehistoric skies
for over 100 million years," so weve been told, "until they died
out with the dinosaurs about 65 million years ago."

Or did they?

There have been many modern-day sightings of creatures that by
eyewitness description sound like pterosaurs.

There are also intriguing rock carvings and even photographs that
suggest that this species of amazing flying monsters could have
survived extinction, could have soared through the skies of the
southwestern United States until very recently, and might still
exist in small numbers in remote parts of the world.

The pterosaur stood on two rather spindly legs and had wings
composed of a leathery membrane that stretched from the animal's
extremely long fourth finger to its body.

Despite their appearance, they were not related to birds (as
dinosaurs are falsely theorized to be), and were highly successful
flyers that might have dined on fish and insects.

Although no pterosaurs have ever been captured and no bodies have
ever been found, sightings have persisted.

Stories of flying reptiles have been recorded for many hundreds of

Some think that tales of the "mythical" dragons in the lore of many
cultures around the would could be attributed to the sighting of

Here are some more modern accounts:

May, 1961, New York State: A businessman flying his private plane
over the Hudson River Valley claimed that he was "buzzed" by a large
flying creature that he said "looked more like a pterodactyl out of
the prehistoric ages."

Early 1960s, California: A couple driving through Trinity National
Forest reported seeing the silhouette of a giant "bird" that they
estimated to have a wingspan of 14 feet. They later described it as
resembling a pterodactyl.

January, 1976, Harlingen, Texas: Jackie Davis (14) and Tracey
Lawson (11) reported seeing a "bird" on the ground that stood five
feet tall, was dark in color with a bald head and a face like a
gorilla's with a sharp, six-inch-long beak. A subsequent
investigation by their parents uncovered tracks that had three toes
and were eight inches across.

February, 1976, San Antonio, Texas: Three elementary school teachers
saw what they described as a pterodactyl swooping low over their
cars as they drove. They said its wingspan was between 15 and 20
feet. One of the teachers commented that it glided through the air
on huge, bony wings - like a bat's.

September, 1982, Los Fresnos, Texas:An ambulance driver named James
Thompson was stopped while driving on Highway 100 by his sighting of
a "large birdlike object" flying low over the area. He described it
as black or grayish with a rough texture, but no feathers. It had a
five- to six-foot wingspan, a hump on the back of its head, and
almost no neck at all. After consulting some books to identify the
creature, he decided it most looked like a pterosaur.

A tale is told of some ranchers in Arizona in 1890 who chased a
flying monster until they were close enough to shoot it. When spread
out and measured, if they are to be believed, the wing-span was
ninety-two feet!

While other reports of pterosaur-like creatures have come out of
Mexico and Crete, it is out of central Africa that some of
the most interesting anecdotes have come.

While traveling though Zambia in 1923, Frank H. Melland collected
reports from natives of an aggressive flying reptile they called
kongamoto, which means "overwhelmer of boats." The natives, who were
occasionally tormented by these creatures, described them as being
featherless with smooth skin, having a beak full of teeth and a
wingspan of between four and seven feet. When shown illustrations
of pterosaurs, Melland reported, "every native present immediately
and unhesitatingly picked out and identified it as a kongamato.

In 1925, a native man was allegedly attacked by a creature that he
identified as a pterosaur. This occurred near a swamp in Rhodesia
(now Zambia) where the man suffered a large wound in his chest that
he said was caused by the monster's long beak.

In the late 1980s, noted cryptozoologist Roy Mackal led an expedition
into Namibia from which he had heard reports of a "prehistoric-looking"
creature with a wingspan of up to 30 feet.

For thousands of years, monstrous flying creatures thought to be
pterodactyls have been reported throughout the world.

The fact that the descriptions in these alleged sightings never vary
lends credibility to the theory that this anomaly might actually

For over one thousand years, China has told tales of monstrous flying
snakes, which are believed to be the root of their cultural conception
of the dragon.

Modern traditions tracing to ancient times have been centered around
the concept of the dragon, and one cannot help but question whether
pterodactyls are the origin of these myths.

Pterodactyls are the largest of all flying creatures.

Demetrius the Topographer was an Egyptian who made Greece his home. He
created a famous mosaic in 100 BC called the "Nile Mosaic of Palestrina",
which depicted scenes of African hunters pursuing native African animals
such as the hippopotamus and crocodile. Gliding above the dark-skinned
men were winged creatures closely resembling pterodactyls.

These supposedly extinct animals pictured along with the native fauna
leads one to wonder if they, too, were common in that environment.

Europe has not been immune to such findings. In 1856, French workmen
were digging a railway tunnel when they split open a giant boulder -
only to reveal an immense bat-like creature with a ten-foot wing span.
It was later identified as a pterodactyl by a student of paleontology.

Aside from variations in size and wing-span, descriptions of these
creatures are startlingly alike. Each sighting tells of a dark grey or
black creature with scaly, featherless skin, a long beak filled with
sharp teeth, bony, membranous skin and taloned feet.

Another fascinating tale of a pterosaur literally coming out of stone
dates back to 1856 in France. Workmen were digging through what is
popularly called "Jurassic-era" limestone for a railway tunnel between
the St.-Dizier and Nancy lines.

When a large boulder of limestone was split open, the workers were
astonished to see a large winged creature come stumbling out.

They said it fluttered its wings, let out a croaking noise and then
dropped dead at their feet.

The creature had thick black, leathery skin, a beak full of sharp
teeth, long talons for feet, and membrane-like wings that spanned
10 feet, 7 inches, by their measure.

The body of the creature was taken to the nearby town of Gray,
according to the story, where it was identified as a pterodactyl by
a student of paleontology. As reported in the Illustrated London News
of February 9, 1856, the rock in which the creature had apparently
been entombed for "millions of years" [but don't believe that dating!],
contained a precise mold of its body.

In the late 1980s, early 1990s, Alister Scholes farmed 5,000 acres in
the Orara Way, about 120 kilometres from the coast, north of Coff’s
Harbour, NSW, Australia.

From his present home in Tasmania, in an interview with Jonathan,
Alister recalled that one day he heard” a huge commotion out in the
bush. I went out and all the animals were running the other way.

"I looked across and saw these huge flying creatures. They were
silvery-greyish in colour, had long necks like a crane, and beaks
like the nose of a pugilist [boxer], with a hook on the end.”

But what astonished Alister was their HUGE size. They would be about
8 feet tall (2½ metres) standing. “As they flew between trees tens
of metres apart, they had to tilt their wings to fly through.”

Alister reported, “I counted 4 of them. Someone else who had seen
them phoned in to the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp.) My daughter
has also seen them.”

Pterosaurs were not dinosaurs, but a family of large flying
reptiles ("pterosaur" means "winged lizard") that includes the
pterodactyl and pteranodon.

But the same question we might ask concerning pteodactyls, could also
be asked regarding dinosaurs.

The question is not "how did the dinosaurs go extinct" but "did the
dinosaurs ever go extinct?"

Dinosaurs ultimately were faced with a new, hostile world, in which
the protective above-atmosphere canopy was gone and the climate
dramatically changed.

Post-Flood man began to hunt them for food and because they were
becoming a competing menace.

Over the centuries, climate (with a scarcer food supply) and man
took heir toll. Yet, rare sightings by reliable people still persist.
