House passes H.R.10 to reduce
illegal immigration

On Friday, October 8th, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 10, the 9/11 Recommendations Implementation Act, by a vote of 282-134. H.R. 10 passed with virtually all of the provisions to reduce illegal immigration intact.

In addition, the House added several amendments that strengthen even further the fight against illegal immigration.

The Senate earlier passed S. 2845, its legislative response to the recommendations of the 9-11 Commission. Unfortunately, however, S. 2845 totally ignores the Commission's recommendations on immigration. Next the two bills will go to a joint Conference Committee.

Following is a tally of the votes on the immigration-related amendments to H.R. 10.
